Integrity. Sincerity. Patience. These aren’t exactly the words that came to mind when you think of a wedding.
Kate & Jeff planned a beautiful wedding ceremony, set in the autumn season at Omni Bedford Springs Resort. The resort dates back to the 19th century, and is most famous for hosting US presidents, and for the healing properties of it’s hot springs. This was the perfect location to celebrate a wedding day.
As we loaded our gear in the truck, Jeremy and I prepared for the drive from Lancaster to Bedford Springs under what looked like threatening skies. I was surprised at how hard it was raining by the time we got on the turnpike. Feeling a bit bummed, we talked of how sweet it would have been to capture this couple in gorgeous light. We tried to remain hopeful that indeed the weather would change.
As we arrived in town, we discovered that the rain had just stopped, and by the time we parked the clouds were beginning to lift. We received word that the groom was still planning for an outdoor ceremony, and as we walked the grounds you could just feel that this was going to be a beautiful day.
Jeff was so much fun to photograph. He had been waiting for this day, and he was prepared. The sun was beginning to come out as I captured portraits. A quick text to Jeremy let him know that Jeff was heading to the back room, and we were moving forward with a mountainside ceremony.
I watched from the balcony as Jeremy captured portraits of Kate and her ladies. Kate was stunning. Her confidence and rest marked the atmosphere of the day. After some sweet portraits on the staircase we were ready for the ceremony.
I smiled as Kate’s father escorted her out of the double doors and down into the lawn where the guests were gathered. This was ridiculous. The sun was out, and the skies were perfect. It was hard to believe that this same day had started out with pounding rain on the turnpike.
God knows what He is doing.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour in glorious light on the balcony while Jeremy captured some fun images with the bride and groom. The reception unfolded perfectly, as friends and family laughed and danced the night away. The toasts confirmed what we had felt all day long.
Kate is a woman full of love for her husband. A woman who trusted God and didn’t settle.
Jeff is a strong man. A man of integrity. A friend who does not need a lot of words to describe his friendships, because his actions have already done that.
They belong together.
The entire day communicated this, and it was a clear celebration of who these two were created to be.
Kate & Jeff, thank you for the honor of telling your story.
